Youth Council calls for grant applications

Youth Council members are inviting local groups and charities to apply for a grant of up to £1,000 at their next meeting in February.

The annual grant is available to local groups or charities that provide services, facilities or support for young people in Three Rivers.

Young Person’s Champion, Councillor Ann Shaw, said: “In the past, the Youth Council has awarded funds to sports clubs, youth groups, and young homeless groups. I am always impressed with their decision making."

"They take this responsibility very seriously and I would encourage more young people in the district to come along to the Youth Council meeting and play their part in making their voices heard and making a difference to their local community.”

Recipients of last year’s grant included Breakspeare School, Cruse Bereavement Care Young People’s Service, South West Herts Samaritans, Rickmansworth Youth Football Club and Friends of Colnbrook School.

Completed application forms must be received by Friday 3 February.

The Youth Council is open to anyone aged 11-19 who lives or goes to school in the district. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday 7 February 5.30-7pm in the Penn Chamber, Three Rivers District Council, Northway, Rickmansworth, WD3 1RL.

The Youth Council is open to anyone aged 11-19 who lives or goes to school in the district and meets three times per year. Young people chair the Youth Council and all decisions are made by themselves. All secondary schools and youth groups in the area are invited to attend.

More speakers will be announced over the next couple of weeks.
