Your district, your future: District Council consults local residents on the future of Three Rivers
Date:
21 June 2006
Three Rivers residents are being asked to take part in an important new consultation and help to plan how the district will look in the future - with the chance to win a digital camera.
The Planning Your Future survey is part of the new plan for the district which the Council is preparing for the next fifteen years to 2021. The plan will set out where new houses, jobs, shops and services will go, and how this can be balanced with protecting the open space and Green Belt land in the district.
As part of the plan, local residents are being asked to give their views on what their district should be like in the future. Key issues include where houses should be built and what kind of housing this should be; whether local shopping centres should be protected; how the Council should ensure that all local residents have access to local services such as schools and hospitals; and how important local conservation areas and historical sites should be protected.
Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win an Olympus X-715 digital camera, which features 5 megapixels, 1.5 inch LCD screen, 28mb internal memory, and motion picture recording.
Councillor Martin Trevett, Environment Portfolio Holder, says:
"We really cannot stress enough how important it is that local people have their say through this survey, as what they say will help us decide what their district will be like in the future. All of these issues, such as access to local services and protecting the green space in the district, are key to helping Three Rivers thrive in years to come. We are encouraging all local residents to complete the survey - it only takes a minute or two but it will make a big difference."
Copies of the Planning Your Future survey are available from Three Rivers House, Rickmansworth; from all local libraries and Parish Council offices; or by calling 01923 776611. The survey can also be downloaded from the Local Development Framework page on this website. The more detailed document, Core Strategy: Issues and Options, is also available at all these locations.
