What is Council Tax
Council Tax is a locally administrated tax collected by local councils. It is part property tax and part person tax, and is based on the value of your home and the number of adults living there.
Three Rivers District Council collects Council Tax on behalf of us, Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Police Authority and the local Parish Councils. Therefore the tax pays for the provision of district, county, parish and emergency services.
Council Tax is calculated daily throughout the financial year from the 1st of April to the 31st of March.
