Weddings at Watersmeet
From Hollywood to Hertfordshire, from Russia with Love…
If you ever wished for a wedding with a winter wonderland back drop or always dreamed of arriving in style, walking down a red carpet and getting married with Monaco, St Tropez, Rome or Venice as your background setting, it’s now possible and you don’t even have to leave Hertfordshire!
With Watersmeet’s professional theatre facilities and the knowledge of our dedicated team you can let your imagination run wild with the endless opportunities you can create for your wedding day. Stage a Hollywood blockbuster with guests arriving dressed as stars from the silver screen, with Oscar awards for your bridesmaids and pageboys and the groom’s speech becomes an Oscar acceptance. Theme your day on a place or country that holds special memories, or perhaps you’re the next James Bond and Jinx, maybe you’re mad about musicals and want your day to have the razzmatazz and all that jazz of Chicago!
The choice is endless. The types of venues that can create this are not.
Watersmeet has over 30 years experience of staging professional theatrical productions, along with many years of hosting receptions, parties and family celebrations. Combine our extensive theatre knowledge with our understanding and appreciation of how all those intimate finishing touches are so important to the enjoyment and success of your big day, and we feel confident your wedding at Watersmeet will be reviewed as an opening night success and remembered for all the right reasons long after the curtain has fallen.
Our auditorium can accommodate up to 500 guests or 220 for a cabaret style seating plan with a dance floor, and is licensed for Civil Partnerships and Ceremonies for up to 500 guests.
Traditional and intimate, modern and low key…
If you feel less is always more, simple is successful, modern is magical or traditional is best delivered by a toast master, whether it’s a white wedding with all the trimmings or a modern couple wanting to share their day and relax with family and a few close friends, then The Colne room can create the atmosphere your day deserves.
Licensed for up to 70 guests, The Colne is a welcoming room decorated in blues and cream, with lots of natural light. Whether you have 70 guests or ten, we can arrange the seating to match your own requirements. This room has an excellent backdrop for formal photographs, including the traditional photograph of signing the wedding register.

Less than a minute away from Watersmeet is the Quadrant and the Rose Gardens. The Quadrant faces a Grade II listing building, Basing House, which has ornate Victorian lattice work around the entrance ways and raised flower beds. The Rose Gardens, named after the abundant roses that bloom every year, also features a raised statue of the Lion and Eagle from 1921. Both areas provide ideal back drops for your photographs and for the more adventurous, Batchworth Lock with the Grand Union Canal could feature in your own union! Just a two minute drive from Watersmeet, Batchworth Lock has some wonderful ancient weeping willows, swans, canal barges and really does provide a very unique setting.
