Summer fun in Three Rivers
Date:
06 July 2012
With summer holidays just around the corner it won’t be long before parents will be thinking of new ideas of how to keep the children occupied during the six week break.
Three Rivers District Council has a wide range of activities available in its free What’s on this Summer brochure.
Councillor Keith Williams, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said:
“We appreciate that keeping young people active and entertained can be expensive so we’ve produced a brochure which includes a range of fun activities and Playschemes that won’t break the bank. There’s a real mixture of events and should include something for everyone.”
The Council’s Playschemes provide a very affordable option to help young children develop their social skills by meeting new friends, playing innovative games and trying a wide range of different activities.
Abbie Ranns, Play Development Officer at Three Rivers, added:
“All our playschemes are Ofsted approved and this year we will have a wide range of specialist activities including Brazilian Football, Circus Skills, Flip Theatre Workshop and Street Dance. There will also be the popular water play, face painting, art workshops, making musical instruments and den building”
Abbie adds that: “The children like to express themselves through free play where they are given control of their own play opportunities and thoroughly enjoy the independence that this provides.”
