Statement of Community Involvement

Over the next three years Three Rivers District Council will prepare a new plan for the District. The plan will decide where new houses, jobs and services will go over the period to 2021 and how we safeguard the environment. The Council wants to make sure that all sections of the community have the chance to be actively involved in preparing the new plan. Effective and meaningful involvement in the planning process is to be ensured through a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) which every Local Authority is required to produce to show how communities will be involved in the preparation and revision of Local Development Documents and in the consideration of planning applications.

Adoption

Following a period of independent examination by an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State, Three Rivers' SCI was adopted on 18 July 2006.

The inspector issued the Council with a binding report (download below) recommending several amendments to the SCI before its adoption.  The Council has made these changes and published the final, adopted SCI (download below).

The Council's Adoption Statement can also be downloaded below.  This explains that the SCI has been adopted, where it is available for viewing and what the procedure is for anybody who wishes to apply for a judicial review of the decision to adopt the SCI.
