Save £300 on energy bills thanks to new funding

Date:  09 February 2012

Homes in Three Rivers could be warmer next winter thanks to the partnership between the Herts Essex Energy Partnership (HEEP) and Climate Energy .

Thanks to this scheme supported by Three Rivers District Council, residents in the area are being offered the chance to have loft and cavity wall insulation fitted in their homes for free, regardless of their financial situation*.  These two energy saving measures could help to reduce the cost of heating homes by around £300 a year**.

Insulating your home is not all about being green, as well saving you money on your energy bills it will make your home warmer and more comfortable in cold weather.  Around 60% of heat can leak through uninsulated walls and roofs. Loft insulation should ideally be at least 27cm (over 10 inches) thick**.

In the last 5 years household energy bills have almost doubled so the payback time on saving money from investing in insulation has reduced, making it even more cost effective.

Experts from Climate Energy will visit homes to carry out a no obligation survey to check they are suitable for these energy saving measures, and the installation will be carried out by qualified and experienced installers from Climate Energy.  Climate Energy is an award winning carbon reduction agency that has just been placed 55th in the Sunday Times’ list of the UK’s fastest growing companies.

Siobhan Black, HEEP Senior Coordinator for Climate Energy, says:

“With fuel bills continuing to rise, we all need to find ways of reducing the amount of energy we using at home.

“Fitting insulation is a great way to do this, and thanks to this new scheme, thousands of homes in the area can benefit, not only in reduced bills but also through their homes feeling warmer.”

To find out how you can benefit from free loft and cavity wall insulation, please call a HEEP expert energy advisor on 0800 980 6026.

* All offers are subject to a technical survey and size of property.  If the property is large a charge may be required for additional meterage which would be advised during a survey.  This offer does not include additional meterage or loft top-ups.

**  Calculations based on figures from the Energy Saving Trust about savings following insulation of energy efficiency measures.

This scheme has been made possible thanks to funding under the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), where the country’s energy providers are obligated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from domestic buildings.
