Residents claim free compost

Local residents claimed over 11 tonnes of free compost at a giveaway in South Oxhey on 9 May.
Despite the poor weather, residents from across the District came to collect their two bags of compost, made from the waste recycled in their weekly brown bin collections, and Council Chairman Chris Whately-Smith was delighted to help out.
"Residents can see what happens to the contents of their brown bin with this rich compost made from their recycling. People came from across the district, all saying how good it was."
The district councils waste aware trailer was also present to give out kitchen caddies, seed packets and home composting advice. The community safety team and local PCSOs were also on hand to give advice on garden and shed security.
