Recycle your old IT equipment

Date:  11 September 2011

If you have any unwanted IT equipment to get rid of, you can bring it along to the former recycling centre on Wiggenhall Road, Watford, WD18 0FB on Sunday 2 October between 10am and 3pm.

This event is one of a series of ‘IT Takeback’ events taking place across Hertfordshire – the aim of which is to reduce the impact of IT waste on the environment while helping people clear their homes and businesses of unwanted items, free of charge.  Businesses would normally otherwise be required to pay a fee to dispose of IT and other electricals.

Alison Page, Head of Environmental Protection, said;

“It’s easy to hoard old and unwanted computer items, but if you bring them along to our event, you will be doing your bit for the environment as well as decluttering your home! Everything you bring will either be recycled or reused – none of it will go to landfill, with 85 percent refurbished and reused and the remainder taken apart and recycled. All computer hard drives donated will be erased."

If you are unable to attend this event you can always take your IT equipment and any other small electrical items to the recycling centres at Waterdale, St Albans Road, Garston, WD25 0PR or Riverside Drive, Rickmansworth, WD3 1BN which are open daily from 8am until 6pm.
