As it has become increasingly difficult to obtain rented accommodation from Housing Associations,  the Council's Housing Needs and Strategy department offers advice on how and where to look for housing in the private sector.

The use and access to private rented accommodation through the council's social lettings agency, Easy Let, is a vital tool for preventing homelessness and increasing choice for customers.

There is also information and guidance on seeking private accommodation.

The Tenancy Agreement Service is a legal information resource providing information on aspects of housing law in England and Wales.

Herts Young Homeless Group also offer a guide to renting in the private sector for 18+ including advice on budgeting, benefit advice and tenancy agreements.
