Play Rangers - better than ever before!

Date:  18 October 2011

We've just completed a review of our outdoor play project  ‘My Play Space’  to find out what the young people and their parents thought and where it could be improved.

The results show:

  • Children love to climb trees, build dens, get messy and swing on ropes at Play Rangers
  • Parents felt their children were safe, healthier and happier because of Play Rangers
  • Results indicate that at least 22% of children attending would never play out unless there was an adult on site
  • 100% of parents asked felt the service was inclusive and that children with disabilities were included and their child’s needs were met.

One mother said; “Keep running it – we love it as it is.  It’s just the sort of play that I think children need.  Thank you so much for providing this fabulous service.  More sessions please!”

Hundreds of families and young people helped complete our Play Ranger survey and the three prize winners drawn at random are:

Chairman Chris Whately-Smith with competition winnersSusanna Bullen from Abbots Langley who won a £50 Voucher for Harlequins Shopping Centre.

Sarah Hatswell from Maple Cross who won a digital camera.

Jordan and Liam Standley from Bedmond who won a family trip to Whipsnade Zoo

Chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Councillor Chris Whately-Smith, presented winners with their prizes in a special ceremony last week.

Councillor Whately-Smith said; “Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everyone who entered.  Play Rangers is an excellent project and I would encourage all parents in the district to bring their children along to one of our sessions.”

All Play Ranger sessions are free, don’t need to be booked and are open to all children aged 5 to 16 years.  Play Rangers welcome children with special needs.

Play Ranger sites are run all over the district after school and at the weekends.  For more information contact our Customer Service Centre.
