Pensioners' Forum meeting: local health on the agenda
Date:
20 June 2006
Pensioners across Three Rivers are invited to attend the next meeting of the Three Rivers Pensioners' Forum, on Friday 30 June from 2pm-4pm.
Local health services are on the agenda, as representatives from West Herts Hospitals Trust will be on hand to explain the proposed changes to local hospital services and GP services, and how these would affect pensioners in Three Rivers.
There will also be the chance to pick up free copies of SAFE (Safety Advice For the Elderly), a new booklet packed with advice and tips on keeping safe for pensioners, which was produced by a group of Pensioners' Forum members working with the Council.
As always, there will be an opportunity for attendees to raise any other topics, issues or concerns they may have.
Councillor Paul Goggins, Chairman of the Pensioners' Forum and the Council's Pensioners' Champion, says:
"We hope that this Pensioners' Forum meeting will be a really valuable one for everyone who comes along. Access to hospitals and GP services is so important to many of our older residents and this is a great opportunity to find out more about how the local changes would affect them. We would encourage pensioners from across the district to come along - new faces are always very welcome and it's a good way to find out what's happening in the area in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere."
The popular Pensioners' Forum meets three times per year and regularly attracts up to sixty local pensioners from across the district, many of whom represent other pensioners' groups or residents associations. The Council reimburses taxi fares to and from the meeting for anyone with transport difficulties.
