Pakistan earthquake victims remembered at Council prayers

Date:  19 October 2005

Three Rivers District Council was led in prayer last night by Ibrahim Usman as a special guest. Among the prayers, District Councillors, officers and members of the public remembered the victims of the Pakistan earthquake tragedy. Eleven year old Ibrahim attended with his father, Mohammed Usman.

Council Chairman, and member of the Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue, Councillor Harry Davies, said:

"We were absolutely delighted to welcome Ibrahim to Three Rivers District Council to lead our prayers. It is the first time in the District Council's history that we have been led in prayer by a young Muslim and it was a moving experience. This was particularly timely, given the recent tragic earthquake in Pakistan and Kashmir, a predominantly Muslim country."

Prayers are held at each full Council meeting. The District Council publishes a free Places of Worship in Three Rivers leaflet which is available by calling 01923 776611.  Details of local Places of Worhip can also be accessed below.
