New Chairman elected

Councillor Kemal Butt has been elected as the new Chairman for Three Rivers District Council.

The Moor Park Councillor will undertake the non-political role for 12 months, supporting community groups and activities across the district as well as chairing meetings of Full Council.

After receiving his official chain of office from outgoing Chair, Councillor Chris Whately-Smith, Kemal Butt said:

"It has been absolutely delightful to work with Cllr Chris Whately-Smith in his year as Chairman of the Council. His ability to serve in a fair, honourable and non-partisan way has completely impressed me.

"Chris and his lovely wife Caroline are a wonderful couple and they have given us excellent advice on how to have a full and enjoyable year. Zainab and I do indeed look forward to a great year ahead."

The elected Vice-Chairman is Councillor Les Mead who is Ward Councillor for Penn Ward in Rickmansworth.
