"It was great that the weather brightened up for the first Mill End Community Day. The efforts of all the organisers and particularly Susan Gambula meant it was a real community event.
"It was supported by all the local groups including the churches, St John's Ambulance and the scouts. For my wife, Yvonne, and I it was a privilege to meet many of the
Mill End volunteers and join them on their day of local celebration."

Scouts District Commissioner, Peter Edwards, said:
"The Mill End scouts meet right next door to the community centre. We were there to let people know what the scouts have to offer. There was a great buzz at the event and a feeling of community atrmosphere.
"The Mill End scouts' group has grown over the last couple of years - we don't wrap young people up in cotton wool, which is unusual nowadays. Young people love it and we've a got waiting list."
The event was also supported by District Council Leader, Ann Shaw. Cllr Shaw said:
"It was an excellent idea to hold such an event, it was great fun, and I am sure we all look forward to a repeat next year."
Ballroom dancing expert Diana Wickes and Megawatt young people's holiday charity attended, along with St Peter's Church choir and volunteers from the Mill End Community Wildlife Area, together with other local groups.
The scouts are looking for adult volunteers to help lead groups in different parts of the district. Residents can contact Peter Edwards on 01923 2843 48 ourdc@hotmail.com for more information.
Croxley Green scout group is one of Cllr Lloyd's chosen charities for the year.
