Medium Term Financial Plan

The Medium Term Financial Plan provides a brief guide to the Council's finances and gives information for a period of three years commencing 2008/2009 and ending 2010/2011. It is also an attempt to put into plain English how the local government finance system affects the Council.

The purpose of the plan is:

1. To maintain clear and accurate information accessible to staff and members for effective financial planning, monitoring and reporting in both the short and long term.
2. To comply with Government guidelines and accounting standards and practices.
3. To provide finance for defined service levels.
4. To devolve accountability for budgets to specified cost centre managers.
5. To optimise the use of Council assets in land, property and money.
