Meals on Wheels
The Council and the voluntary sector supply meals on wheels to residents who:
- are unable to obtain a meal from any other source, such as a partner or Lunch Club;
- are unable to prepare their own meal, using either fresh, frozen or chilled foods;
- would be at risk if left alone to prepare food;
- are liable to self-neglect or would eat an inappropriate diet without this service.
If you think you might qualify for Meals on Wheels, contact Hertfordshire County Council's Adult Care Services or your doctor.

Calling for volunteers
The WRVS Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver more than just a meal. They bring a personal touch to people who live at home. By delivering a meal to someone who perhaps can't shop or cook, they are helping them keep their independence.
Every year WRVS delivers over 9 million meals to older and housebound people across the length and breadth of Britain. The WRVS are now looking for more people to join them and help deliver Meals on Wheels in the district. Volunteers come from all walks of life. The only qualifications you need are to care about people and be friendly and reliable. You don't even have to own a car or be able to drive!
To find out more about WRVS and the range of services they provide, visit their website at www.wrvs.org.uk or telephone your local WRVS contact on 01923 772096 (Rickmansworth and South Oxhey or 01923 283426 (Chorleywood).
