More public loos will now be available in two town centres.
Ansells the bookmakers in Abbots Langley, together with MENCAP and Watersmeet in Rickmansworth, have now joined the District Council’s community toilet scheme on a pilot basis.
Cabinet Member for Public Services and Health, Cllr Phil Brading, said:
“We are saving about £32,000 per year with the current community toilet facilities.
“I would like to thank Ansells, MENCAP and the Watersmeet team for their enthusiasm in supporting the community toilets project. Residents can help us by providing comments on how well the scheme works and by telling us if there are ways we can make further improvements."
MENCAP and Watersmeet will be open until 8pm on Victorian Evening on Friday 26 November.
The new pilot schemes run until January. Facilities at all three venues are wheelchair accessible. MENCAP has additional facilities to support people with physical disabilities. Other local organisations are invited to contact the Council if they would like to discuss joining the scheme.
Ansells is located in Abbots Langley High Street, MENCAP is located in Rickmansworth High Street. Watersmeet is opposite Rickmansworth Public Library off Rickmansworth High Street.
The scheme already runs at the Royal Oak, YMCA Woodlands, (both in Abbots Langley), the Harvester and Fox and Hounds pubs (both in Croxley Green), Three Rivers House (Rickmansworth) , Budgens supermarket (Chorleywood) and The Centre (South Oxhey). Facilities are also available next to Cafe in the Park at the Aquadrome.
Ansells is not open to U18s - alternative facilties are available at the Royal Oak.
MENCAP and Watersmeet will also be taking part in the District Council’s community internet scheme which aims to provide free web access through organisations’ existing broadband connections using old Council computers. The pilot scheme begins in January.
