Local pensioners invited to latest forum

Date:  12 February 2007

Pensioners across Three Rivers are invited to attend the next meeting of the district's Pensioners' Forum.

The meeting, which takes place at 2pm on Friday 23 February, will be attended by Herts County Council's Director of Adult Care Services, Sarah Pickup.  Sarah will be explaining the support, services and advice available from Adult Care Services, and answering questions.

The popular forum is regularly attended by at least fifty pensioners from across the district.  Meetings are held three times per year and new faces are always welcome.

Councillor Paul Goggins, Pensioners' Champion and Chairman of the forum, says:

"We're very pleased that Sarah will be joining us to talk about these services that many of our forum members already do or could benefit from.  The Pensioners' Forum is a great way for our older residents to discuss issues that are important to them and to make their voice heard."

The District Council's Michelle Wright will also be dropping in to discuss the option of sheltered or elderly person's accommodation with attendees.  The Council has several empty flats across the district suitable for pensioners living alone, combining independence with support when needed.

The meeting takes place at Three Rivers House, Northway, Rickmansworth from 2pm-4pm on Friday 23 February.  Refreshments are provided, and the Council will reimburse taxi fares for anyone with transport or mobility difficulties.
