Leavesden Country Park is officially one of the best UK parks after receiving its Green Flag award

Green Flag Awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country and Leavesden Country Park stood out after impressing the judges during their visit on the 18th of June, 2010.

Councillor Chris Whately-Smith Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Community, said;

‘This award also recognises the excellent communications and team work between the Friends of Leavesden Country Park, Councillors, local residents, users of the park, the Three Rivers Environmental Protection Department, volunteer groups and all those that have been involved in the regeneration of the park over that last two years.‘

Only green spaces that are free to enter and open to the public are eligible to win an award through the scheme, which is run by environmental charities Keep Britain Tidy, BTCV and GreenSpace.

There will be a special flag raising ceremony to mark the occasion at Leavesden Country Park on Friday (30th July) at 6PM. This will take place in the first car park into the park off of College Road. A meeting of the 'Friends of Leavesden Country Park' will follow in the Woodlands YMCA Centre.
