Latest crime figures

The latest crime figures for Three Rivers reveal a 14% reduction in overall crime, with every category of crime being reduced between 2008 and 2009.

Results from the British Crime Survey show the total number of crimes in Three Rivers between 1 April and 31 December 2009 was 2,957; the lowest level of crime in Hertfordshire.

The Survey’s findings were:

  • Violent crime fell by 79 to 409 crimes – the lowest rate in Hertfordshire.
  • Criminal damage fell from 735 crimes to 698, also the lowest rate in Hertfordshire.
  • A decrease in burglaries to 228 the 2nd lowest rate in Hertfordshire.
  • Vehicle crime fell to 498 incidents (112 fewer crimes compared to last year – the 3rd lowest rate in Hertfordshire).
  • Thefts of pedal bicycles fell 8% from 87 to 80.

Chair of the Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Roger Seabourne, said:

“Three Rivers is officially one of the five safest districts in England; although it is excellent to see a reduction in all crimes we must continue working hard to ensure crime results remain low and fall further.

“Residents play a key role in the low crime levels in Three Rivers with our active Neighbourhood Watch groups. I encourage residents to help their community by taking part in Neighbourhood Watch and reporting anything suspicious.”
