It's the Garret Cup for Golf Course!

The celebrations marking 70 years of public golf at Rickmansworth Public Golf Course were a hit last week, with hundreds of people visiting the course over the three day period.

Events began on Thursday 10 May, when Chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Councillor David Major and Councillor Chris Whately-Smith, Leisure Portfolio Holder, were joined by on site PGA Pro Alan Dobbins and John Ryder, Chairman of Rickmansworth Golf Club, to cut the anniversary cake.

Two days of green fees, at the anniversary price of 70p, were enjoyed by over 100 tradesmen, women and over 60's, with several golfers born in 1937 enjoying a free round on the 18 hole course.

Despite the rain over 400 parents and children went along to the course to enjoy Family Fun Day, which included children's entertainment and free family golf and competitions.

A new loyalty card has been produced as part of the celebrations giving golfers the opportunity to play for free on the 18 and 9 hole courses throughout the year.
