Housing Associations

A Housing Association provides accommodation to rent for people with a housing need.  The accommodation they provide is usually self-contained, unfurnished flats and houses of various sizes.  Accommodation in Three Rivers is only available under specific nomination rights.

What are nomination rights?

Nomination rights means that the local Council can select a new tenant for a housing association property from the Housing Register.

Who can apply?

Housing Associations provide housing for many different sectors of the community but they always seek to help those at the greatest housing need.  Each has a different allocation policy and most accept nominations from local Councils. 

How to apply?

Some Housing Associations in this document may accept approaches directly.  However, where the Council has 100% nomination rights, you will have to be registered on the Council's housing list to be considered.  Housing Association properties in the Three Rivers District are allocated in the same way that Council stock is allocated (those at the top of the housing register).

Housing Association tenants do not have the facility to exercise 'The Right to Buy'.
