Housing Associations
A Housing Association provides accommodation to rent for people with a housing need. The accommodation they provide is usually self-contained, unfurnished flats and houses of various sizes. Accommodation in Three Rivers is only available under specific nomination rights.
What are nomination rights?
Nomination rights means that the local Council can select a new tenant for a housing association property from the Housing Register.
Who can apply?
Housing Associations provide housing for many different sectors of the community but they always seek to help those at the greatest housing need. Each has a different allocation policy and most accept nominations from local Councils.
How to apply?
There are two ways to apply for a housing association home – either directly with the housing association or through your local council.
Many housing associations run low-cost home ownership schemes. These let you buy a 'share' of a property and pay rent on the rest of it. You have the option over time of buying more shares until you eventually own the whole property.
Not all Housing Association tenants have the facility to exercise 'The Right to Aquire'. For further information please contact your Housing Association.
