Free compost giveaway

Date:  26 April 2011

In support of Compost Awareness Week (1-7 May) we are giving away a free bag of compost to all residents.

Anyone who lives in Three Rivers can come to the Aquadrome, Frogmoor Lane, Rickmansworth on Wednesday 11 May to pick up a bag of high quality compost – made of the green waste we collect every week via our kerbside recycling scheme. The giveaway will run from 8.30am - 3.30pm (or until the compost runs out) on a first come first served basis and is limited to 2 bags per household, please bring your own bags.

Alison Page, Head of Environmental Protection at Three Rivers District Council said:
“This is a great opportunity to reward residents who we collect green waste from throughout the year. During the day we will also have useful information and tips on how to get started with home composting.”

"All of the waste we collect from your brown bins - which includes food scraps, cardboard, grass cuttings, shredded paper, leaves, and much more - is sent to West London Composting (WLC) to be made into nutrient rich compost, which is suitable for use as a soil conditioner or mulch."
