Don’t let Christmas go to waste
Date:
13 December 2011
‘Take care when recycling your Christmas waste.’ That’s the message from Three Rivers District Council.
Councillor Phil Brading, Portfolio Holder for Pubic Services, said:
“Across Hertfordshire there has been a problem with contamination of brown bin waste. Christmas cards are, unfortunately, a problem as most come with glitter, glue and ribbons on.
Please only put cards that are not decorated with glitter and tinsel in with your brown bin.”
Collection points of Christmas cards for residents have also been set around the district at:
· Three Rivers House, Rickmansworth
· Abbots Langley Parish Council, Abbots Langley
· Watford Rural Parish Council, South Oxhey
These will be available from the week commencing Monday 19 December until mid-January 2012.

Christmas cards can also be taken to your nearest HWRC and put in the cardboard containers (but not cards decorated with glitter, tinsel or a plastic layer).
Wrapping paper can also go in the cardboard banks but not shiny foil wrapping paper. Ribbons, bows, glitter, and sellotape must be kept to a minimum.
