DIY grants

Date:  03 February 2010

Applications are now open for B&Q Watford’s One Planet Living Grants for schools, community groups or charities running long-term sustainable projects.

Grants offer £50 to £250 worth of B&Q materials for local projects which support one of four themes: save energy, grow your own, conserve nature and support local culture and heritage. Organisations in Three Rivers can apply to B&Q Watford which takes applications from projects within 20 miles of the store.

Bromet School's gardening project Pam O’Brien, Environmental Champion for B&Q says:

"The grants have been running successfully for several years now, it’s really great for us to be able to help the local community. Any groups wishing to apply should contact me in store for more information. Our funding is limited of course, but we will always help where and when we can."

B&Q also runs a Waste Donation Scheme, offering waste materials that cannot be resold such as slightly damaged tins of paint, off-cuts of timber, odd rolls of wallpaper and broken tiles for mosaic projects. The scheme is open to community projects that benefit the local area and the environment.
