Visitors to Rickmansworth will find it easier to spend a penny from November. The District Council announced today two new venues which will be providing community toilet facilties on a pilot basis. Watford MENCAP, which has moved to the High Street (opposite Iceland supermarket) in Rickmansworth and Watersmeet will be opening their doors to the public in late November ahead of Victorian Evening.
The project uses existing facilities and provides public access during normal opening hours, saving the Council over £32,000 per year. The scheme already runs at the Royal Oak, YMCA Woodlands, (both in Abbots Langley), the Harvester and Fox and Hounds pubs (both in Croxley Green), Three Rivers House (Rickmansworth) , Budgens supermarket (Chorleywood) and The Centre (South Oxhey). Facilities are also available next to Cafe in the Park at the Aquadrome.
Watersmeet is situated directly opposite the library while MENCAP is ideal for people shopping in the High Street and it has specialist facilities for people with severe disabilities.
The pilot scheme will run for two months and will be reviewed in January.
