Chains help keep services on track

Nearly all of our refuse and recycling lorries were collecting as normal yesterday after snow chains were fitted over the weekend to help cope with the severe weather conditions. We will be collecting refuse, recycling and compostable waste on the usual days this week.  Any refuse which was not collected last week will also be cleared, and should be left out next to the refuse bin on the scheduled collection day.

Unfortunately we will not be able to return to pick up missed recycling or compostable waste (brown bins) from last week, so please wait until next week (i.e. the next scheduled collection) as per your collection calendar. Extra recycling can be placed in carrier bags (not black sacks) next to the recycling boxes, and flattened cardboard left next to brown bins will also be taken.

TV news reports that residents in Hertfordshire have not had their rubbish collected for six weeks referred to other parts of the County, and do not apply in Three Rivers. No part of the district has had more than one week's collection missed.  The Christmas 'catch up' to cover the festive bank holidays was completed as scheduled, on 4 January.

On some rounds we are using an ordinary refuse vehicle this week to collect the plastic bottles and cans, but they will still be recycled as normal.
