Cash boost for cancer support
Date:
21 July 2009
The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre (LJMC) benefitted from a cash boost this summer, as Councillor Chris Lloyd presented Rosemary Lucey and Buzz Coster from the charity with a cheque for £5,860.
This sum represents a chunk of the amount Councillor Lloyd tirelessly raised for his three chosen charities during his year as Chairman of Three Rivers District Council (2008/2009). The other two charities, The Amos Trust and the Croxley Green Scouts, have also received cheques from Councillor Lloyd during July.
Councillor Lloyd said:
"I chose The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre as one of my charities because it offers a vital lifeline for local people affected by cancer.
"I am pleased that my fundraising efforts can help this charity continue its fantastic work, but I'd like to remind everyone that it is large events such as the Manches Moor Park 10K that really help the charity to maintain its essential services.
"You can help LJMC and have a lot of fun by taking part in the popular annual event, which has now raised more than £185,000 for the Centre. I look forward to seeing you all at the finish line!"
The Manches Moor Park 10K and Junior Fun Runs, sponsored by Manches LLP and supported by Three Rivers District Council, will take place at Merchant Taylors' School on Sunday 27 September. Entry forms and more information can be found at www.moorpark10k.org.uk or you can ring 020 8950 6586.
